Grand Opening of New Library Commons

The D.H. Hill Library will host the beginning of the grand opening of the new library commons today at 9 a.m. and it will run until 7:45 p.m. with the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. in the new commons.

According to the library Web site, the grand opening events will feature free coffee service, music from the Carolina Chocolate Drops and The Vints, as well as a performance by the Global Breakdance Crew on the East Wing patio. Students will also have the opportunity to register to win a portable DVD player.

"I'm really excited about the new library commons." Amanda Sain, a freshman in biomedical engineering, said. "It sounds like a great place. All the fun stuff they have planned sounds amazing."

The grand opening celebrations will run through Friday.
